Enjoyed the book and learned some things that were new to me about music. We created a Big Library Read book club at my library and turned it up a notch by adding Kahoot Trivia using facts Questlove shared from the book. All participants had fun.

I loved all the history that I learned behind a lot of the songs. It helped grow my appreciation for them more knowing the background story.

I was very interested in Questlove’s perspective about the music and about the events that took place, and how those informed each other. A lot of the music and history he discusses I remember too since I’m only a few years younger, so I time travelled with him a bit. Then I thought a lot about his perspective versus mine and how the music and the history affected us. I was very engaged in the book, and I’m glad I listened to the audiobook to hear his telling and to hear some of the music as well.

I’m learning so much! My only regret is that I didn’t start building a Spotify playlist with all the songs referenced by Questlove.

Thought it was a good book with great delivery by the author. It is thought provoking and full of great information on the inner workings of the music industry. Really enjoyed it!

I wonder whether the principles, such as intertwining as a better description than parallelism, apply to Asian and Aboriginal cultures as well as what he describes as Black Cool.
You mentioned two of my big favorites. But they’re pretty different from each other. Could you say more about what you mean? I’m interested in your thoughts.

I enjoyed his journey of being baptized by music as a child. His parents being musicians makes his view generational.
His father’s group Lee Andrews & The Heart
was a favorite of mine. I met Lee A & he was a large spiritual presence. Connecting history & music made me buy this book for my library.
Amir is both funny & smart.
Thanks Phila library. I think this should be in Phila schools. Music heals & is a great outlet for the angry young men using guns to settle disagreements.

There is a playlist on Spotify. Used it to host virtual book club that included trivia. We used the playlist pre-event, while people joined the room

This is a really cool book and bonus! It has a Spotify playlist, just search it and the playlist goes in order of the songs he is talking about.

Started. Well-written, but I’m too old to get enough of the references. I wish I had the listening chops to dig it.
